This morning while in town making some purchases, I saw a gentleman with a physical disability in his legs and feet. Because of this deformity, he had to crawl on his hands and knees. But in order to protect them from too much damage, he had put flip flops on his hands and rubber boots on his knees.
My heart nearly broke into as I approached him on the sidewalk. Holding back the tears, I held my head up high and put on my best smile to greet him with a “Buenos Dias” (Good Morning), wanting instead to burst into tears. He was so thrilled that someone had acknowledged him and he, too, returned a huge smile and a lovely “Buenos Dias”.
As I passed him, I couldn’t fight the tears and I prayed, “Thank you Jesus for my perfect legs, that are strong and can walk anywhere I desire. Thank you for this wonderful blessing that so often is taken for granted.”
And I prayed for a special blessing on that brave gentleman. Because, think about it, how many of us could crawl a mile in his knee fashioned rubber boots???
Amen Amanda!! We are a very blessed people!!! I’m so glad you were blessed by this blog. We love you much!
The word says that He will use the weak to confound the wise, often times we get so busy with our day to day activities that we don’t see those around us. Thank the Lord that he works in us and through us to see those that are before us, praise the Lord for the blessings and giving us His eyes to see!
Wow! What a reality check! I have been complaining all morning with my aches and pains. I am so thankful that God gave me the strength to get out of bed, walk to my car, and drive to my job, and drive back home and spend time with the ones I love. I totally agree with Ann… we are so truly blessed beyond what we deserve.
How VERY blessed we are!! What a touching story. How could we ever ask God for anything, when He has already blessed us so much more than we deserve!
