After a long day and church in the afternoon at Puyupungo, I arrived to my home tonight, very tired and ready to relax. But as soon as I sat down, I heard 3 sweet voices calling out my name at my door, “Hermana Susana”. It was 8PM at night, and they had walked here (30 minutes) for me to help Franklin with his school homework. (This is after having gone to school until 2, then worked on the streets selling frozen ice pops until 7PM).My heart went out to them, so I gladly invited them in, offering them candies and crossword puzzles and crayons.
Franklin, Jeaneth, and Monica smiled and laughed and did not want to leave! Many people say we will get our reward someday for the work that we do. But see what they don’t realize is I’m already getting my reward, because seeing those children smile, hearing their laughter ring throughout my home, and feeling their little arms tightly around me in the sweetest embrace…that right there IS my reward!!! “Of such is the kingdom of Heaven.”
