I was listening to a song this morning while cleaning up my house, and it’s a song I’ve heard a few times and enjoy, but as always, I really gave a good listen to the lyrics and as I’m singing along, it says, “This journey has been weary…..” and then quickly, I stop washing dishes and go, “Wait!!!! Wait a minute, WHAT?!?! What did that say? This journey has been weary?? NO it hasn’t!!! My journey has not been weary in Jesus! WHAT?!?! Who wrote this song??? Where they did they get that idea?”
My first thought was, “This writer must not be serving the same God I am, because my journey in Jesus has been awesome!” And I began to think on His word and how He promises joy and peace and happiness over and again when we serve Him, Scriptures like: It’s joy unspeakable and full of glory; In His presence is fullness of Joy; Come unto Me all that are heavy laden and I’ll give you rest; Cast your cares upon Him, for He cares for you; Great peace have they which love thy law!! Wow!!! Doesn’t sound weary, does it!?!?! NO!!! Amen!
A journey for Jesus is not hard and burdensome. Its wonderful and beautiful! Life in general, sometimes can be challenging and weary and painful, but when we walk it with Jesus, He is our burden bearer. He takes our weight for us, our pain for us, our sorrows, and He replaces all our woes with happiness and peace and love and power instead! That’s the greatness of walking with Jesus.
A young girl who was once in our Puyo church knows this all too well. She was on fire for the Lord. She was so happy, God was using her, she was anointed. But the world began pulling at her, her friends began wanting her to be like them….and finally, she gave in. She quit church and turned her back on God and today, she is the saddest, most unhappy person I know. She is miserable without Jesus. She calls or writes often and weeps for all that she has lost. This is the difference in living for Jesus. Following the devil, the world, is weary…living for Jesus is not!! It’s awesome!!
As sweet Mukutsahua from our Puyo church said, “I don’t ever want to live any other life!” This is the greatest life ever! Weary???? Never!!! Awesome and amazing??? Always!!!
P.S. Needless to say I won’t be singing THAT song anymore!
