This precious lady is Sis. Gloria, from our Talin church. She is a wonderful singer and loves Jesus so much. I wrote a song about her a few years ago, that my family recorded, called, “When She Sings”. She has blessed my heart numerous times singing and worshiping the Lord in our services here. The anointing upon her is great and she also ministers the Word now, too.
So, I invited her recently to preach to the Puyo church congregation. She was so happy, and a bit nervous, too! This photo is from that day. When you click on it, I’m not sure what will catch your eye first, but when I sat down on the pew to listen to her preach, my eyes went straight to her feet. There stood this beautiful, anointed woman of God, who has Holy Ghost power in her and had a great word from the Lord for the people that day, and there she stood on that elegant platform of the Puyo church in her old, worn out flip flops. I burst into tears when I saw them because I knew, those flip flops were her very best.
You see, Sis. Gloria doesn’t have riches of this world. She doesn’t have a closet full of fine clothes or numerous pairs of sandals and high heels to go through and decide which she wants to wear or doesn’t want to wear. She’s not able to pick out which shoes match her outfit that day, and make the colors ‘pop’ together. No, she and her husband have 5 children, and they don’t make enough money each month to even buy groceries for their family. But, she is far too humble to even think about such vanity anyway. She just wants to honor the Lord and please Him, and bring glory to His name. And even a poor woman from the jungle can do that, no matter what shoes are on her feet. Because those feet are beautiful feet to the Lord; for they are the feet of one who brings glad tidings of good things (Romans 10:15)!
Sis. Gloria is called and chosen and anointed, and that didn’t require her having fancy clothes or many pairs of shiny high heel shoes. It just required a willing heart that loves Jesus and wants to serve and work for Him. Sis. Gloria’s message blessed me so much that day, but even more than that, her feet blessed me! (And yes, I’m planning to buy her a beautiful new pair of shoes, that she can especially wear when she ministers!)
Oh, how beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news of Jesus…even if the only shoes they have to wear are old, worn out flip flops!
