To go to my community churches, I usually leave my home around 2 or 2:15 in the afternoon. In the mornings, I do visitations, office work, go buy things the churches or people need, prayer time and preaching preparation, and much more. Today, I worked in the office. I had a lot to do and was running just a little late, about 15 minutes behind schedule. But I still had to meet the workers at Puyo church who are building a wall and fence there, and then pick up a dear sister who was going with me to the community church to help me. So when I arrived at Puyo church, I was in a hurry and jumped out quickly to go to the back door of the church first. We have crushed stone in that area and it’s pretty, but quite uncomfortable to walk on. The workers also currently have other things like rebar, cement, rolls of fence, etc in that same area. I was walking quickly and wearing flip flops today. So yep, you guessed it. My flip flop got hung on a rebar, and I went down nearly face first! I fell on my knee and quickly put up my hand to try to shield the fall completely, but I went all the way down! So, I bruised my knee and also cut and bruised my hand on the rock. I got myself up, finished what I needed to do, then went to the church bathroom to wrap my hand in a paper towel to help the bleeding. I talked to the workers, picked up the sister and we headed out to the community. And yes, I bruised my knee and cut my right hand, and my truck is a standard transmission! Lol! It’s about a 40 minute ride to Puyupungo church. But I made it! It was already enough excitement for me for one day! lol
The dear sister started sweeping the church and I had yet to go pick up people for church, so I wanted to wrap my hand again in toilet paper to help any more bleeding during service time. So, I went directly to the bathroom (which is an outhouse). In the jungle, you must check everything very carefully. I was in a hurry again lol, So I opened the door and stepped inside. A quick look; everything seems okay, but as I turn to close the door behind me, something fell onto my shoulder! Usually, it’s just a frog, or a beetle type bug lol Maybe sometimes a spider. But today, as I jiggled it off real quickly, and it fell onto the floor and took off, I glanced down to see what it is. Y’all, It was a SNAKE!!!!! A snake had fallen on my shoulder!!! And, no, I didn’t get a picture!!! lol
Church service was beautiful. I made it back home safely tonight, feeling sore, but thanking the Lord for just another adventurous day on the mission field in the Amazon!
