There is a precious lady that attends one of my jungle churches and she’s always faithful. She never misses church, because she loves it! She lives in a beautiful spot in the jungle, right next to the river. So when the river rises it can sometimes make it complicated for her to get to church. There was a very tiny, scary bridge there at one time. However, on an occasion when the river rose, the strong current took the bridge away. She recently obtained a canoe, but is not physically able to guide it herself to cross the river, so if her husband is there, he can help her. Yesterday, as I was picking up people for service in that community, it had rained a lot so I wasn’t sure if she’d be able to get out or not, but as I neared her trail, there she stood waiting, smiling, ready to go to church. I noticed her hair was wet, but that’s not unusual. With no electricity (so no hairdryer), people here let their hair dry naturally. She got into my truck and started talking, telling me about her day’s adventure. She said the river had risen from the excessive rain over a period of many days now. And at church time, her husband had not returned home, so she had no canoe to go in. But with her desire being so great to be in the House of the Lord, she wasn’t going to let anything hinder her. So upon considering what to do, she decided she would swim across the muddy, murky river and walk the trail to wait for me to pick her up so she could come to church. So her wet hair was from swimming the river! As she told me her story, Yes, I nearly burst into tears! Too many make such terrible excuses for not being in service, and yet she wasn’t going to let anything stop her! I was so moved and I’m certain that as much as I was, I know that Jesus was even more pleased!! ❤️🙌
