This photo is from a few years ago, but it’s still one of my favorites of me and my beautiful Mother. I’m using it today because I want to honor her on this special day. What day is it? Well, it’s not her birthday, nor her anniversary. It’s even more special than that. On this day, Dec 19, 1979, my beautiful Mother received the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38). She was born again. (John 3:3-5). And because of that, our whole family changed; our whole world changed. Everything became different and all became new. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Oh, she became even more beautiful to me, she was glowing now! And when she didn’t even realize it, I was watching her. I saw her singing songs to Jesus while she hung clothes on the line. I heard her pray as she cooked supper or swept the house. I saw her witness to everyone she could about what had happened to her (Acts 1:8). I saw her go into her bedroom every day and I heard her talking to Jesus, and I could feel the power of the Holy Ghost drawing me as she prayed and basked in His presence. Oh, her new life touched our whole family. It was so beautiful that it made me want what SHE had!!!
Were it not for that incredible, supernatural, life changing experience that took place in Mom 41 years ago, I don’t know where I would be today. You see, her life impacted me so much that I, too, received the Holy Ghost a year and a half later. The Templet Family music and evangelism ministry existed because of her. Ecuador Missions exists because of her. I am a woman of God today because of her! Because her love for Jesus and the joy that He gave her was so contagious that it made all of us fall in love with Jesus, too!! So, on this day, her 41st anniversary of being filled with the Holy Ghost, I want to give honor to my Mother for being such an incredible and powerful woman of God, and for setting such an amazing example for me and all our family. “Thank you, Mom, for loving Jesus. Your life made me want to serve Him, too, and He’s truly the best thing that ever happened to us. I want to be like you, Mom, and be a good example so that others might see Jesus in me, also. I’ll forever be grateful for the life you have lived before me. It continues to minister to me and make me love Jesus more every day. I admire you so much and love you with all my heart. Happy 41 years of being full of the Holy Ghost!!”
