This view absolutely took my breath away as I was driving home this evening. The white building in the bottom left of the pic is our beautiful church in Puyo. In the upper right is the massive Volcano El Altar, with its gorgeous snow capped ridges. Numerous years ago, its cone (point) fell in after an eruption, and as I admired it in all of its glorious splendor today, I couldn’t help but wonder how truly immense it must have been before.
I smiled and worshipped as I beheld the beautiful House that we (man) had created for the Lord. (And, Oh, how proud I am of that lovely white building with its bold red doors!) But today, my eyes were drawn to the enormous mountain that God Almighty had created, its majesty beyond compare. And I was reminded of Solomon, and his prayer when the House of the Lord was finished.
“But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded? Yet have thou respect unto the prayer of thy servant, and to his supplication, O Lord my God, to hearken unto the cry and to the prayer, which thy servant prayeth before thee to day: That thine eyes may be open toward THIS house night and day, even toward the place of which thou hast said, My name shall be there: that thou mayest hearken unto the prayer which thy servant shall make toward THIS place.”
1 Kings 8:27-29 (2 Chron. 6:18-20)
I know that our beautiful church cannot encompass a God who has created such a tremendous and striking sight as this Volcano, but we dedicated this house to Him using this same Scripture seven years ago, and I can tell you that He has surely dwelt in this place and He has heard our supplications and prayers from this place! And His name is upon this house just as much as it is upon that volcano! Oh how glorious! Jesus! I see your house, I see your creation! I’m amazed and stand in awe of you!! I see you in all of it!!
