My Mission work is in an area of great poverty. The people are not wealthy by the worlds standards. Some of the natives do not even use a monetary system, instead living off the land and bartering. So years ago when the Lord put it on my heart to teach them about giving, I struggled with it. I wondered how someone that literally had nothing, could give anything. But oh how the Lord has confirmed His word over and again!
Malachi 3:10 is the only time in the Bible that the Lord encourages us to ‘test’ Him, by giving, so He can ‘prove’ Himself to us. “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”
So when I see eggs (pictured), live chickens (another offering this past week), fruits, vegetables, etc. in the offering plate, it makes me rejoice. First, I know it’s going to help to provide for others in the churches that don’t have as much. Secondly, I know, from the many great testimonies that have been shared, that their crops are going to produce in abundance, their chickens are going to lay more eggs than their family can even use, and whatever they do have, whatever they have given, though it’s not money, it’s going to be Blessed and multiplied more than they can contain!!
