Food distribution is such a big part of my ministry here in Ecuador. Giving away staple foods such as 20lb bags of rice is something I do on a regular basis. I also love bringing candies to give out after church services, for both children and adults alike! Everyone enjoys sweets!! Then as funds will allow, I love to bring extra special treats, like on this day. I had ordered some delicious donuts and cupcakes from a local bakery in Puyo.
I enjoy doing this so much for many reasons. One being that often many have never had such delicacies. For some, it was their first time having a chocolate donut. (And they all loved them!!) But I also do it because I know that many times there are precious people who have come to church hungry, having not eaten all day long and having no food in their home. Oh, it makes me so happy to see their hunger filled and watch them enjoying the delicious treat!
Perhaps in other places, many are accustomed to having 3 meals a day. To some that’s considered a ‘need’. But on the Mission Field, that would be a ‘miracle.’ What’s ‘normal’ for others, would be simply supernatural for them. I am Blessed, so I love to Bless others. Any ‘extra’ little thing I can give them to sustain their bodies, I love to do so! It brings me great joy to feed them in the natural, just as I also feed their hungry souls!
