Susan is blessed to have running water and electricity in her home (which is at the edge of the jungle). However, it’s a rare occurrence that she has both of these ‘luxuries’ at the same time on any given day. The electricity is out every single day for several hours at a time. She’s been without water for up to one month at a time. She absolutely NEVER complains about any of it! When she relays it to us, she always says, “I’m so thankful that my rain barrels are full so I can get a bath tonight” or “What a Blessing it was to find some candles in town so that I could see when I got back home from a day of food distribution in the jungle.”
Such was the case recently, when she sent this picture of her house all aglow with candlelight (a few days after the fact, when her electricity came back on).
I don’t know about you, but for me, THIS is a beautiful picture. The ‘holiday’ lights that everyone is so excited about this time of year absolutely pale in comparison to this! Although no words were spoken, this picture told me an incredible story of a jungle Missionary who is absolutely sold out, dedicated and committed to winning Souls, no matter the sacrifice. ‘Lord, with all of my first world abundance, help ME to do better!’
